Aziza Sobh, Registered Psychotherapist at Valley Connections Counselling

Hello, my name is Aziza Sobh (she/her) and I am a Registered Psychotherapist at Valley Connections Counselling. My professional journey is characterized by a deep commitment to helping others overcome life's challenges.

I hold an undergraduate degree from York University, where I pursued a double major in Kinesiology and Health Science and Psychology, which provided me with a multidimensional understanding of human well-being and laid the groundwork for my future endeavors in the realm of counselling psychology. Following the pursuit of my Bachelor’s degree, I went on to complete a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, from Yorkville University.

I've received additional training in specialized areas, including eating disorders, couples counselling, ADHD, emotion-focused therapy, and suicide prevention. Correspondingly, I’m fortunate enough to be starting the Addictions and Mental Health certification program at Algonquin College this fall, which is also recognized by the Canadian Addiction Counsellor Certification Federation (CACCF), Canada’s Addiction Workforce Regulator, while also completing The Gottman Method Level 2, in order to better help support couples.

I currently work with individuals aged 13 and above, as well as couples, offering support in areas such as addiction, mood disorders (such as depression and anxiety), emotion dysregulation, grief and loss, self-esteem, stress management, and marital/relationship issues. Additionally, my work extends to providing support and guidance to those with loved ones living with mood or personality disorders.

I employ a dynamic range of evidence-based therapies, tailoring my approach to the unique needs of each client. My toolkit includes taking a Person- Centered approach, in
addition to Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems therapy (IFS), The Gottman
Method, and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT).

Beyond my professional endeavors, I value the importance of self-care and cherish moments of leisure. I enjoy spending time with my cat (Cleo) and dog (Athena), going on hikes, traveling, playing volleyball, attending hot yoga and spin classes, taking a deep dive into Netflix, and exploring new restaurants!

I appreciate you taking the time to view my profile and should you decide to take the leap into therapy, I look forward to meeting with you!
