Hello, my name is Jessica Ilton (she/her), and I am a Registered Psychotherapist and a Canadian Certified counsellor (CCC) at Valley Connections Counselling in Dundas. I graduated with a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from the University of Ottawa in 2018, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Guelph in 2014. Currently, I am completing my PhD at the University of Toronto in Clinical Psychology.

I value the therapeutic alliance and believe in creating a supportive environment that facilitates growth and healing. I take a client-centered and strengths-based approach to therapy. I integrate a variety of theoretical approaches into my practice including Attachment-based, Narrative therapy, Emotion-focused therapy (EFT), Imago Relationship therapy, Mindfulness-based, Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I
I have an interest in working with adolescents and adults. I am experienced in working with a wide variety of concerns including mood disorders, anxiety, self-harm and suicidal ideation, relationship issues, stress, self-esteem, substance use, sexual orientation and gender identity, grief, and trauma. I welcome clients from the LGBTQ+ community.
