Hello, my name is Jessica Ilton (she/her), and I am a Registered Psychotherapist and a Canadian Certified counsellor (CCC) at Valley Connections Counselling in Dundas. I graduated with a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from the University of Ottawa in 2018, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Guelph in 2014.
I value the therapeutic alliance and believe in creating a supportive environment that facilitates growth and healing. I take a client-centered and strengths-based approach to therapy. I integrate a variety of theoretical approaches into my practice including Attachment-based, Narrative therapy, Emotion-focused therapy (EFT), Imago Relationship therapy, Mindfulness-based, Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
I have an interest in working with adolescents, adults, and couples. I am experienced in working with a wide variety of concerns including mood disorders, anxiety, self-harm and suicidal ideation, relationship issues, stress, self-esteem, substance use, sexual orientation and gender identity, grief, and trauma. I welcome clients from the LGBTQ+ community.
I look forward to meeting you and working towards your goals.
If you would like to work with me, I offer a complimentary consultation to determine if I am the right fit for you. I would be honoured to support you along your journey.
Jessica's fees are eligible for insurance coverage under extended health benefit plans that cover the services of Registered Psychotherapists.
