Child/Adult and Youth Counsellor and Therapist

Krista Hull, BFA, BA, MA (Cand.)

Psychotherapy Intern

Youth & Adult Therapist

My name is Krista Hull, and I am a counselling intern at Valley Connections Counselling.

My goal is to create a compassionate, non-judgmental, and safe environment where you can express yourself, share your story, and learn to use your inherent strengths and skills to make changes in your life.

I value collaboration and believe in developing a strong therapeutic relationship where we work together to create a plan using evidence-based practices while incorporating your specific goals, cultural traditions, spiritual beliefs, life experiences, and personal strengths.

My approach to psychotherapy is trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, feminist, LGBTQ*-affirmative, and sex-positive. I take an eclectic approach to therapy which is client-centred, using empathy, self-compassion, and humour.

I trained as an artist and received a Bachelor of Fine Art from NSCAD University in Halifax. I have also pursued training in psychology and gender studies, earning a Bachelor of Arts from Mount Saint Vincent University. Currently, I am completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. As a researcher, I have worked in many psychological research areas, including positive psychology and neuropsychology. I have also spent the past four years working within a research team focused on Indigenous mental health, resiliency, and the intergenerational effects of trauma. I believe my diverse educational experiences help to inform my holistic therapeutic approach to mental health and wellbeing.

I understand finding a therapist you fit well with can take some exploring. I am more than happy to connect with you and answer any questions you might have or schedule a free 30-minute consultation to discuss what it might be like to work together.

Krista's fees are eligible for insurance coverage under extended health benefit plans that cover the services of Registered Psychotherapists.
