Overview
Valley Connections Counselling is a close-knit team of Mental Health professionals dedicated to providing counselling and psychotherapeutic support to our community. We have been established since 2016, and we are seeking a well-trained and dedicated Child and Family Therapist (MSW or RP) to join our team. As a Child and Family Therapist, you will provide therapeutic services to child, adolescent, and family clients, primarily in-person in our Burlington clinic, supplemented at times with some virtual work.
As an independently contracted Therapist, your responsibilities will include the following:
Conducting consults and clinical intakes to meet potential youth clients and their parents/caregivers.
Conducting clinical assessments and formulations to understand family systems and child developmental/mental health needs.
Developing individualized, evidence-based treatment plans tailored to children, adolescents, and family dynamics.
Implementing various evidence-based psychotherapy methods (e.g., CBT, DBT, play-informed therapy, attachment-based interventions) to develop long-term therapeutic relationships.
Partnering with parents to provide parent coaching and support family system health.
Collaborating with other healthcare and educational professionals (such as schools or pediatricians) to ensure comprehensive and holistic care.
Monitoring client progress and adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
Maintaining accurate, timely, and up-to-date clinical records in compliance with college standards.
Participating in case conferences and team meetings as required.
Staying informed and trained about current research and developments in the field of child, adolescent, and family therapy.
Required Experience and Training
3–5 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and families in a clinical, counseling, or therapeutic setting.
Training and experience in youth-focused modalities (such as CBT, DBT, EFFT, Play Therapy, or Attachment-focused therapy).
Proficiency in Owl Practice software is highly desirable.
Strong humanistic skills, including deep empathy, active listening, and exceptional communication with both children and adults.
Ability to effectively manage cases, manage crises, and coordinate care with other professionals.
Desire to work in a collaborative team environment while also possessing strong independent clinical skills.
Requirements
Education: Master of Social Work (MSW) or a Master’s degree in Counselling, Psychotherapy, Psychology, or a closely related field.
Professional Registration: Registration in good standing as a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with the OCSWSSW OR as a Registered Psychotherapist (RP or RP-Qualifying) with the CRPO is required.
Willingness to engage in regular and ongoing professional and clinical supervision/consultation as it pertains to clinical practice.
Must possess current Professional Liability Insurance and a valid Vulnerable Sector Screen (VSS).
