Clinical Supervision Groups at Valley Connections Counselling

Since 2017, Valley Connections Counselling has proudly offered Clinical Supervision Groups tailored for mental health professionals across Canada. These groups are designed to foster professional growth, support ethical practice, and create meaningful peer connections in a supportive and confidential environment.

Our Clinical Supervision Groups are facilitated by Amanda Youssef, a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). Amanda brings over 15 years of clinical experience and more than 15,000 hours of direct client contact to her supervision work. Since 2016, she has been providing clinical supervision to a wide range of professionals working in the mental health field.

Throughout her years of practice, Amanda has supervised hundreds of clinicians, including Registered Psychotherapists, Registered Social Workers, and Clinical Counsellors, representing various professional colleges and regulatory bodies across Canada. Her experience spans a wide range of supervisory formats, including individual, dyadic, and group supervision, and she supports professionals at every stage of their development — from practicum students to established, seasoned clinicians.

Amanda’s approach to supervision is rooted in relational safety, respect, and cultural responsiveness. She is deeply committed to creating a space where supervisees feel both supported and challenged to grow. Drawing from a range of evidence-based therapeutic models—including Relational-Cultural Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Dialectical Behaviour and Mindfulness-Based Approaches—Amanda tailors her supervision to meet the unique needs of each group and individual. Her style emphasizes reflective practice, ethical decision-making, and the development of clinical insight.

In line with her commitment to continued professional development, Amanda has enaged in coursework to complete the Clinical Supervision Certificate Program at Wilfrid Laurier University. This advanced training further enhances her ability to offer supervision that is competent, ethical, and attuned to the evolving needs of the mental health field.

All Clinical Supervision Groups at Valley Connections Counselling are fully CRPO-compliant, meaning they are led by a qualified clinical supervisor and are limited to eight participants or fewer to ensure meaningful engagement and focused attention for each member.

Why Choose Group Supervision?

Group supervision offers a variety of benefits for mental health professionals, including:

Peer Connection & Community

Mental health work can often feel isolating. Group supervision provides an opportunity to connect with peers, share experiences, and foster a sense of professional belonging.

Diverse Learning Opportunities

Exposure to a range of clinical cases, perspectives, and theoretical frameworks allows participants to broaden their understanding and approach to therapy.

Cost-Effective Growth

Group supervision is often a more economical option for accumulating supervision hours while still receiving high-quality, reflective guidance.

Skill Development

Engaging with a group fosters the development of consultation skills, collaborative thinking, and clinical reasoning—all essential competencies for ethical and effective practice.

Professional Connections Groups

These groups are designed to provide Registered Psychotherapists with a supportive environment to connect with peers, discuss cases, ask questions, and enhance their professional practice. With a maximum of 8 members per group, these sessions aid in meeting the CRPO requirements for clinical supervision hours. These hours can also be used towards the required professional development (40 hours every two years).

**First Wednesday of each month:** 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM

OR

**Second Thursday of each month:** 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Please note:

  • A primary supervisor is required, as the group facilitator does not replace this role. You will need to provide your primary supervisor’s contact details upon registration.
  • There will be no meetings in December.

The cost is $125 per meeting, with a required commitment to attend for a minimum of 6 months.

Professional Consultation Groups

These groups are for practitioners who have completed the hour requirements for supervision with the CRPO and are in independent practice. If you are seeking the opportunity to connect with other Registered Psychotherapists, discuss cases, ask questions, and obtain support in your professional practice, this group will likely appeal to you. This group is NOT capped at 8 members, meaning that if you are still looking to log clinical supervision hours for the CRPO, it will not qualify. These hours may be used toward some of the required professional development hours (40 hours every two years).
