Sarah Moore

Registered Psychotherapist, Qualifying

Hi! I’m Sarah (she/her), a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) here at Valley Connections Counselling. I began my academic journey at the University of Windsor, majoring in Psychology and minoring in Political Science, and went on to earn my Master’s in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University.

I’m inspired by the belief that embracing the shadows within ourselves is key to genuine healing. Too often, we turn away from our pain and struggles, adopting an overly positive outlook to avoid discomfort. However, by facing and understanding these darker parts of ourselves, we can truly heal and grow. I know firsthand that confronting these difficult aspects of life can be daunting, but it doesn’t have to be. I’ll guide you with curiosity and empathy, walking alongside you in a supportive and compassionate role.

My practice is rooted in narrative therapy, which allows individuals to separate themselves from their problems and reframe their personal narratives. This approach encourages the discovery of new, empowering meanings in your experiences, fostering a deeper understanding of your identity and behaviours. Narrative therapy emphasizes

that you are not defined by your problems but have the power to rewrite your story, promoting growth and resilience.

In addition to narrative therapy, I integrate various therapeutic techniques to tailor my approach to each individual, making my overall approach eclectic. Sessions

with me can include inner child work, shadow and parts work, emotionally focused, utilizing art to dialogue with oneself, and techniques to help with emotional dysregulation and relaxation. This personalized approach ensures that we will use the tools best suited to your unique needs and goals.

Lastly, I enter the therapeutic space knowing that compatibility is essential for building a firm foundation where you feel safe to explore your inner world and heal. I

encourage you to book a free consultation, free of any expectations, so we can determine if we’re a good fit.

Congratulations on taking the first step on your journey –

it’s often the hardest one!
